Awake

Awake

 There are mornings

when I wake up

as a hundred-year-old woman

with stiff hips

and wrinkled memories

so I slow down the world

because I have wisdom to forget

and I accept that it is transient.

There are other mornings

when I wake up

as a six-year-old

with playful thoughts

and easily mobile desires

so I spin the world fast

because I have the power to change it

and I recreate without ceasing.

And there are mornings

when I wake up

and I just say to myself -

It's good, you are awake!

So I embrace the world.
